KRL MEETING 2005

KRL 2005 is the 6th meeting. The theme for this year : “PRESENCE’. We reflect together the meaning of our presence : What do we , as foreign religious, have in mind about ‘presence’? At this meeting the working group tries to invite the group to expereince the different characteristic of KRL meeting. In the previous meetings of KRL, we most do the activities in inside room. This time we go out and break the wall of our live and to see the real world around us. Pater Theo Vergeer OFM (chairman of CMBR) in his introduction gives a brief explanation about the aim of this meeting. He indeed supports this activities. Sr. Melina Polo leads us to start our day with morning prayer. Gerard welcomes to Peter, Helma and Jan as the source persons for this meeting. Peter and his group will invite all of us taste, smell, get experience about the way of doing their work in urban mission field. For the foreign religious, perhaps we often hear about urban mission. Now we are in the Netherlands. The questions: do we see poor people? it seems the people are enough food and clothes. Is it so? or do we really have a good eyes to see the real situation here? and many questions I think… This meeting invites us to really see and ask to ourselves ‘what do I see and taste towards the world around me, here! ‘presence’. What is it really mean ‘my presence here’ as brothers and sisters among the the people where I live. Maybe… it is a good to refer the ‘presence of Jesus’ among His people, ‘I’ll be with you, forever!’ and His presence is directed to all people, no exception. His presence gives a hope to people who comes to Him.

“As Jesus travels through the land
and heals people
John’s disciples ask him: “Are you the one who is to come,
or do we have to look for another?”“Go tell John what you see and hear.” says Jesus
‘the blind see again, and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear,

the dead arise and good news is brought to the poor. You are blessed if you do not take offens at
me’ (Luc, 7, 18 – 23)This is the how God in a new way made the ‘good news’ visible through Jesus. Heb. 1, 1-2
The direction is for me (maybe you also) try to see more the reality of our outside world. In the presence of our mission field (wherever we stay and live), “ we try to respond to the changing needs in the church and the world and choose – according to time and place- that work which corresponds to our purpose, so that the whole congregation (our mission, our community, my own presence) can assit in the relief of need, loneliness, fear and meaninglessness, and in the recognition and comabting of oppressing structures within ourselves and around us. (Constitutions Zusters O.L.Vrou- Amersfoort, “mission”).
For me, this time is reflective meeting to break down my world and to go outside the border of my wall. How about your expereince?

The closing prayer is very wonderful moment. Sr. Maria Lourdes has arranged it properly. The last session, we celebrate the day together by having ‘glasje or boreltje’. Proficiat Gerard! you lead the things well, we also Proficiat to one another Melina, Maria Lourdes, Klemens, Gerda ( we miss you this time) Till next year!!!
